What Causes Pricking Pain In The Legs While Sitting?

Hi I am getting pins and needles in my left leg after sitting with them raised for short periods. I have a small annualr tear at S1/l5 and wear and tear of disc l4/l5 which i get epiduras for and am due an injection in a few weeks. It is more comfortable for me to raise my legs when sitting but the pins and needles takes ages to go. I also get cramps in the toes of the left foot, they feel thike they are crossed over each over and got stuck there. I started on Tonic Water as advised by my Pilates instructor but they have come back now i stopped the tonic water. Any suggestions? Do I need to tell my Orthopaedic Consutlant about this? I am a 40 year old female.
