What Causes Prolonged Cough?

I ve had a cough for more than a week. About 9-10 days. It has been unproductive up until yesterday. The whole time it has caused soreness in my abdomen, this morning it began to cause the same kind of soreness in the area where one would usually have menstrual cramps. Wondering if I should be concerned. I believe the virus to be on its way out.
