What Causes Prolonged Periods Along With Sore Breasts While On Althea Pills?

Hello. I just started my first pack of Althea pills and I took the first tablet on my first day of menstruation as advised. My period usually lasts for 5 days but up until now (I just took my 8th pill last night, so its 8 days already) i still have discharges. Even though it s not blood anymore but still it is brown discharges. My breasts also became tender. Are these occurrences normal? I tried to religiously take the pill on the same time but on several nights I took them about 1 or 2 hours later than intended. Hope it is still okay. Thank you.
