What Causes Prolonged Periods While On Levonelle?

I took levonelle about six weeks ago, since then I have had two 'periods'. The second is still going after seven days and it is heavy with quite a lot of clotting. Should I consult my GP or is this going to settle down? I'm 48 and I have always had a regular cycle.
