What Causes Prominent Veins On Leg Of A Child?

My 10 year old daughter was sitting on the sofa and I noticed what at first I thought were a series of bruises on her right leg (mid way down). But I then realised they were veins. Probably about 10 of them. Theres no pain or swelling..but a bit of a shock. Any thoughts what this could be?
