What Causes Pulling Cross Eye Sensation In Both The Eyes?

I had a pulling cross eye sensation in both of my eyes while I was waiting at a stop light. It was so intense till I had to close my eyes and open them to try to focus to see to drive. I was thankful that the episode ended before the light changed because I could not get my eyes to focus. What is that.
