What Causes Pulsating Sensation In Throat?

I am a healthy 75 year old male. My recent tests, including an EKG and blood work is normal. I am taking .150 mcg of synthroid and 32 mg of adacand. I recently had hernia surgery. Since the surgery I have noticed that I am feeling my heart beat in the back of my throat. My BP is a normal 120/70.
My GP says it is just a sign of old age. Should I be concerned?
