What Causes Purple Blisters After The Removal Of Warts With Nitrogen?

My son had warts removed yesterday by nitrogen. We were told to expect color changes but the warts have really swelled - the one on his palm in particular, like a big purple blister about 1/2" round. Is this normal? Other than motrin junior, is there anything else I can do to relieve his discomfort?
