What Causes Purplish Black Bruise On The Lip?

HI, I have this very strange looking purplish black bruised looking are on the inside of lip that just appeared yesterday and now it seems as though I can see a small bruising looking are on the outside of my skin any idea. It does not hurt and the only thing I did yestereday was bite my lip, but I've done that before and never seen anything like this???
