What Causes Purplish Red Discoloration Of Toes And Nail Beds?

My wife and I just had our lab workup done and everything looks good. Since then, 2 months ago, my wife's toes have started turning red along with a purplish color under the nail bed. Is this something to be concerned? I have been doing some research and it appears that she could have an iron deficiency. Your thoughts
