What Causes Raised Heart Rate And Pain In Sternum?

Hi I feel like my heart is beating fast. It occurs at night mostly, when I am lying down or trying to fall asleep. It feels like all I hear and focus on is my heartbeat. My sternum hurts a little. And sometimes I get spasms where my leg will just jump up or my chest feels like it was just shocked. Is this normal? What should I do?
