What Causes Random Periods Of Itching On Body?

I have random periods of itching. Mostly evenings or nights and it can actually awaken me when I am sleeping. Antihistamines aren t really helpful. OTC creams are minimally helpful. What could be triggering this? I take Plaquenil for arthritis, am on same dosage as have been fir several years.
