What Causes Rapid Raise And Skipped Heart Beat?

Every now and then my heart will start beating incredibly fast and hard, I can even see my chest moving from the quick hard heartbeat. Usually when I hold my breath it will all of a sudden jump back to a normal beat but I was wondering what this could be?
