What Causes Rash On Neck?

Hi, I was just recently diagnosed wioth having a 1 1/2 inch colloid throid nodule on my left lobe. I have a red burn type rash on my neck that apreads from one end to the other. Are these related and if not do you know what the rash could be from. No new meds or soaps or anything like that.
