What Causes Rashes On Labia Majora?

I noticed several days ago that I have what appears to be a rash on both of my labia majora. It doesn't irriate me at all unless it itches and I scratch it and then it hurts a little. It is a dark red color. I don't believe this is an STD as I have not had sex in some time. Any ideas?
