What Causes Rashes Under The Earlobe?

I have this small rash that looks almost like carpet burn that shows up and disappears within a day or two. It shows up either on my earlobe or right under my chin, never anywhere else. It doesn't hurt or burn and creams don't get rid of it. It showed up on my left earlobe this morning and is bigger than its ever been and redder, but by the time I get to the doctor, it's always gone.
