What Causes Rawness On The Skin Behind The Ear?

The skin behind my ear has been a bit raw the past few days. I finally decided to dab some alcohol back there to see if there were any actual cuts and sure enough, it burns. I took a picture though, and cannot see any open cuts or scrapes. What might cause that rawness?
