What Causes Recurrent Fever After Quitting Smoking?

Hi I am quitting smoking am now down to 3-4 cigarettes on a good day, I would normally smoke maybe 10-15. I have flu on and off since Christmas and cough has lasted longer, I am panic striken that just as I give up it might be cancer. I am 35 year old woman
