Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a 23 year old female athlete with a constant reoccurring ganglion cyst in my wrist. I play lacrosse so it tends to bother me a lot. I had the surgery about 2 years ago and it helped for about a year and a half and now its back and the pain comes and goes. When I get the pain (usually from overuse) I can t even function with that wrist for the rest of the day. My flare ups can be unbearable, The doctor told me that I had a lot of inflammation that he cleaned out when he did the surgery the first time and told me I would need surgery again eventually. I try to take anti inflammatories but it does not help much, and icing it tends to be unbearable as well. Do you have any suggestions besides surgery? Should I worry about any other under lying issues? I did not want to jump to surgery again if I did not have to. I know that I had the cyst in my wrist but I tend to have a lot of pain in my feet as well when I wake up and try to walk on hardwood floor. It tends to be pretty painful every morning. I was not sure if there was anything related to that. thank you for your time.
