What Causes Recurring Itchy Patches On Scalp?

My daughter has itchy , oozing patches on her scalp,I don t know what it is and wonder if it could be psoriasis how can we tell? Does coloring hair have anything to do with causing it? It comes and goes. She does have a stressful job. She uses Burts Bees for shampoo and conditioner, it s about the only thing that works. Is there a med or salve for it?
