What Causes Recurring Numbness In Fingers?

I usually have my yearly exam in May, I have been experiencing numbness in my left arm fingers, there is no pain in my chest, I have had stress tests as late as 2 years ago, my concern is my sister has suggested I get my thyrod checked because of the numbness when holding things in my hand for a little while
