What Causes Recurring Pain In Left Side Of Belly Button?

I've had pain to the left of my bellybutton that has come and gone for years. It has become much worse and more often. I have gone twice to doctors. Once 5 years ago and the doc took xrays, said there was inflammation but couldn't see anything and left it at that. The next time the doc told me to get probiotics. Any ideas? Thanks
