What Causes Recurring Pemphigoid In Old Lady?

my 78 year old aunt keeps getting pemphigoid with many painful blisters. The consultants make me feel it is our fault. We follow the care plan exactly but once she comes off prednisone after three weeks she is back in hospital. Any suggestions please?
