What Causes Recurring Vaginal Infections?

I have a long history of bacterial vaginitis but only when I was sexually active. I currently have symptoms of an infection but have not been sexually active for many years. I ruled out yeast. Do you think I have atrophic vaginatis? I am age 63 weigh about 115 and my height is about 5/2
