What Causes Recurring Vaginal Pain?

Hi, i have had sharp pains in my vagina periodically for a while now. they come and go. Its probably been about a year since the first time this happened. About a month ago it also stung so much when i urinated that it was hard to walk after. Are these two linked? what's going on?!
