What Causes Recurring Vertigo And Nausea With Chills?

My 65 year old husband is having a bout of extreme vertigo with nausea and vomiting. No fever but chills and aches. Second occurence in three weeks. Happened at night both times at @ 9:00p.m. Last time it (dizzy and vomiting) lasted for about an hour. Just had fairly good check up with family doctor and heart specialist. He also had been having difficulty driving long distances (dizzy/anxious) but this was attributed to high blood pressure; currently taking blood pressure medication. He spent part of today (and 3 weeks ago) in the basement cleaning with bleach. Family history (mother) of Meunires (spelling?). Diagnosis possible?
