What Causes Red And Itchy Labia Minora?

I was recently diagnosed with HSVII and have not had any outbreaks since the original outbreak. I noticed just now that my left labia minora is bright red and "itchy". i do not see any lesions and am wondering if this is a sign that another outbreak is on it's way or if it could be due to something else (ie. my pants rubbing against it from working out, etc). Thanks.
