What Causes Red Bumps Around The Genital Area After An Intercourse?

This past weekend my boyfriend and I had intercourse about 4 or 5 times within a 24 hour time period and I developed red pimple-like bumps around my genital area. They looked like they had whiteheads on them. I also shaved completely the day before. I've noticed over the past couple of days that a couple new bumps showed up but most of them seem to have gone away leaving a less red bump. Could this be herpes or is it just irritation from sex and/or shaving?
