What Causes Red Hot Rash On Cheeks?

WWe had a fun day in 118 degree weather yesterday to find my daughter has red almost rash like cheeks..they are also hot to the touch. Almost like they are retaining the heat... could this just be from. the heat yesterday? my daughter is 4years years old
