What Causes Red Itchy Bites All Over The Body While Sleeping?

hi, just recently my husband and i have been waking up in middle of night from getting bit.... the bites are white and red around it and are huge atleast the size of a dime....it causes slight numbness and few hours later are just red and itchy and much smaller....cant find anything in the bed and wondering if u might know what it is biting us as our 1 yr old daughter sleeps in our room!
