What Causes Red Itchy Patch On The Abdomen?

Hi, 6 months ago I got a small red itchy patch on my tummy. Since then it has become bigger and there are other similar patches around it. The skin itches and every few days dries over and peels off. But doesn't get better. I want to wait to go to my dermatologist but it seems to be spreading. What could it be?
