What Causes Red Liquid Discharge After Popping Bartholin Cyst?

I think I just had a Bartholin Cyst i guess it popped or something. Its when hurting for the last two weeks getting worse and bigger. Today it was really painful when i went to got check on it before i went to bed there was this red type liquid coming out and it didn't hurt as bad and the size was smaller. Is this a good thing?
