What Causes Red Patches On The Penis?

hi. I am a 45 year old circumsized male. The head of my penis is chapped and has some red patches (not protrusions). It has been like this for some 6 weeks and is not getting better or worse. It sometimes, but rarely, feels itchy. I have not had unprotcted sex.
