What Causes Red Prickly Rash Over The Side Of The Abdomen?

out of the blue a few nights about when I got up from bed, I felt somehing on my side of stomach. I have a red prickly sensitive very red rash aout 2 inches long/wide, just a patch....very sensitive and raw especially with clothing on it as it irriates it... came out of nowhere
