What Causes Redness Around The Eyes?

I have had these symptoms for more than a month. My eyes crust over at night (only)the skin around the eyes is red. Under my eyes is slightly puffy in the morning with very dark circles. I thought it may be allergies so I have been using simply saline daily. The eyes are not itchy and are not sensitive to light.
