What Causes Redness In Lips During A Flu?

I have had the flu for 3 days now, today my lips are very red. They feel a little odd, not like chapped but more so tingly. I am a smoker (pack/day) but since ive been sick ive cut that in half and am going to try to quit. Do you think my red lips have something to do with the flu? The lack of smoking? Completely unrelated? Thanks in advance for your help!
