What Causes Redness In The Eye?

I woke up with one eye blood red. Makes my blue eye look bluer but don t know what happened. I don t feel any difference. Sight ok no itching nothing. I would not of known anything was wrong until I looked in the mirror! What causes this? Should I go to my doctor?
