What Causes Redness, Swelling And Pain At The Tip Of Penis?

Hi doctor, My son is 14 and he s having a balanitis problem. The tip of his penis is red,swollen and painful. He just washed it and I m wondering if there s any cream that can be applied to help the healing, like polysporin, Zincofax or others. Thank you
