What Causes Reduced Body Temperature?

Hello, My daughter recently had surgery and it appears the incision my be getting infected (some discharge, sustained fever typ. 99-101) but tonight her temp dropped to about 95.8 which is different for her. I know it s not the best thermometer (forehead scan IR sensor) but I checked it on myself and our other kids and they read reasonably normal. Any thoughts on this low temp? Normal for infection?
