What Causes Right Sided Recurring Pain In Chest And Shoulder?

I have been feeling sharp pains on the right side of my chest and right shoulder when I take a really deep breath. I am a male by the way. It doesn't happen all the time. It only happens for a couple minutes then it goes away for a couple hours, maybe even a day, but it always comes back.
Is this serious? Do I need to go see a doctor?
