What Causes Rising Of Epiglottis After Continuous Vomiting?

Hey, i had an incident 2 weeks ago where i threw up consecutively for a few days and then woke up 1 day realizing that i could see my epiglottis in the back of my mouth. This has never been the case for me before as i have never noticed it in my previous 22 years.I was wondering if this was something that would be permanent of if it will eventually reside into my throat again like it has been for my whole life?
