What Causes Running Nose With Salty Residue Around The Bottom Of Nostrils?

My nose runs a little sometimes, then leaves a salty residue around the bottom of my nostrils, white, crusty, -- Why? How do I get rid of it? - I ve not seen it on anyone else except my dad long ago and it s embarrassing. I don t really have sinus issues that I know of. Thanks.
