What Causes Seed Warts On Hand?

I had a few seed warts coming up on my hand that I work with which are sort of painful at times nothing un bearable but just sore and I was wondering why did I get them when I have never had them before married to the same women for 26 years and I was afraid to spread them to her during sex and if they could get on my privates as well?
