What Causes Sensitivity To Taste, Smell And Loud Noise?

Hello! My husband has had a major depressive disorder for 15 years and he takes a medication called Effexor. However, he has something else which concerns (and irritates) me. He is unusually physically sensitive. He reacts very strongly to bad tastes, smells, or loud noises; he can't stand certain fabrics touching his skin, and is very particular about the food he eats. He also has sinus problems if that could be somehow related...
