What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps With Diarrhea?

My Mother has severe cramps with some diarreah. She is 92 yrs old. lives in an apt for seniors. I m out of town. All she had was 2 Tums and she doesn t have pepto bismal.or anything. till someone goes tomorrow to get some. At least that s what I thought. Could this be the flu? See a dr. tomorrow?
