What Causes Severe Acne On Face Post Tonsillectomy?

I am a 27 year old healthy, not-pregnant woman. Since having my tonsils removed, I've had severe acne. At first I attributed it to the pain killers I was on. But after stopping the pain killers, at the appropriate time, my acne has since maintained itself. It's all over my face and for the first time in my life it's all over my back. Is it possible removing tonsils could have completely thrown my body off?
