What Causes Severe Constipation Along With Loose Stools?

I have been suffering with constipation for about a year. When I do go I have clear leakage for while afterwards. I developed chronic pain and ended up having my appendix removed (enlarged, and infected) Three weeks later I am more regular, but still experiencing the same leakage. I am 43, 6 foot tall, 160 pds. I also had a colonoscopy prior to the appendectomy and the doctor said everything appeared normal. I did have one good week of regular bowel movements w/no leakage my second week after surgery, but now it is back
