What Causes Severe Cough And Breathing Problem?

I have essential tremors. My current problem right now is I coughing spells to the point that I can't hardly get my breath. I experience more while swallowing my food. I have had 2 swallowing tests which proved to be ok. Could this be a symtom of essential tremors? I have been advised to see a neuroligist. What do you think?
