What Causes Severe Diarrhea?

Hi, This is very embarrassing but before I hea to the doctors I wanted to know what might be happening to me and if its really that serious. About two weeks ago I got diarrhea like never before the first day I had chills and a slight fever and then after that first day felt much better but still continued with diarrhea but I thought I must have eaten something my stomach didn t agree with. But since then now going in three days I don t have diarrhea but my stools are hard and look like a rolled up piece of raw meat and when I wipe I find this mucus that was transparent until today now it s a yellowish color. Is this all part of maybe food poisoning or something more serious?
