What Causes Severe Hair Fall?

Hello doctor, I am an engineering student, 20yrs old. I have severe hairloss nowadays. Half an year ago i shifted to a new place where the water is hard and salty. After coming here i feel like my hairfall is more. Afterthat I started applying ayurvedic oil but no decrease in hairfall. Can you please suggest me what should I do to overcome this problem?
